The box holding the backup battery has very little extra room. My main concern with purchasing a replacement battery would be whether or not it would fit. Many replacement batteries listed their dimensions as being slightly bigger than the original.
This battery fit perfectly, and (after 4 months use) it is still working fine - no sign of causing any problems or running down. It's still too early to tell how long it will last, but I'm completely satisfied.

At the time I purchased this battery, Home Depot didn't stock one. The price is lower on-line but the shipping is high. The product fits in the Fios box just like the origional.

The usefull life for this product is about 2-3 years.

My local Southern California Home Depot sells the replacement battery for about $22. Of course in California we pay near 10% sales tax so consider the tax as well.

Tape the receipt to the battery if you have any problems you won't need to go on a major search for your records.

How Verizon gets away with making the customers responsible for the maintenence of their equipment is beyond me. The Verizon rep told me that the FIOS fiber optic box was my property. I asked them if I could take it when I move. They said no. I said "then it's not really my property." The rep had no answer to that statement.

It's their gear. We pay a lot for cable and they should have to maintain their own equipment.

I know this forum is not supposed to be a place to rant, but it bugs me that Verizon is getting away with this.
